Grounds & Gardens

  • An outdoor wedding ceremony with a couple standing under a wooden arch decorated with green foliage and pink, purple, and white flowers. The officiant, an older man with gray hair, glasses, and a gray suit, reads from a paper while holding a microphone. The bride, wearing a white lace dress and veil, and the groom, in a green suit, smile as they face each other. Guests are seated in the foreground, watching the ceremony.

    Arbor Grove

Step into a meadow where nature does the decorating for you. On most days, this sunlit field is visited by deer and woodland creatures… but on your wedding day, it becomes an open-air sanctuary made just for you and your guests.

Framed by arbors crafted from naturally fallen western red cedar, this breathtaking space feels both timeless and sacred. Towering evergreens—some reaching over 200 feet—stand like gentle guardians as you share your vows.

Your guests arrive through pathways lined with native plants and hand-hewn cedar beams, ready to be dressed up or kept beautifully simple. Choose lush florals, wild greenery, or even fresh cuttings from our own dahlia gardens to make the space uniquely yours.

A place where nature’s quiet majesty meets heartfelt celebration… this is the magic of Cascadia Meadow.

    Cocktail Gardens

Lovingly tended in every season, our gardens burst with thousands of blooms in a rainbow of colors. With more than 40 dahlia varieties and hundreds of sunflowers, the grounds offer vibrant backdrops for unforgettable photos and peaceful strolls.

Guests also enjoy wandering through our vegetable garden, where the traditional “three sisters”—corn, beans, and squash—grow together alongside a variety of seasonal vegetables.

Cascadia Meadows is home to nearly every common native tree and plant found in the Pacific Northwest. Just beyond the meadow, several acres of self-guided nature trails invite you to explore these species up close, creating a beautiful blend of discovery, serenity, and natural beauty. 🌿

  • Celebration Meadow

Celebration Meadow is a versatile, sweeping, open lawn stretching 180 feet in every direction, framed by towering Pacific Northwest evergreens and flowing seamlessly into The Arbor Grove, The Cocktail Gardens, The Photographer’s Nook, and The Grand Welcome Tree.

Spacious enough to accommodate more than 200 guests, The Celebration Meadow is a blank canvas that transforms beautifully with a tent of your choosing — from intimate sailcloth to grand clear span. Our round tables and chairs give you everything you need to create a seated dinner that feels both elegant and warmly personal.

As the sun sets and the evening unfolds, the meadow takes on a whole new life. String lights, lanterns, and the glow of a dance floor under a tent canopy create an atmosphere that guests will talk about long after the last song plays. With full power available for lighting and your DJ or band, the only limit is your imagination.

  • The Old Maple Sanctuary

An intimate and enchanting alternate ceremony space nestled beneath a century old majestic Big Leaf Maple. Perfect for micro-weddings, this “mother tree” offers a breathtaking canopy of leaves, filtered light, and a grounded, soulful setting for heartfelt vows. It is also ideal for “first looks.”

  • Photographer's Nook

Tucked just at the edge of a sweeping grassy lawn, the Photographer’s Nook is one of those rare outdoor spaces that photographers discover and immediately love. A lush, unbroken wall of green native vegetation creates a clean, natural backdrop free of distracting woody trunks and branches — the kind of effortless setting that makes every shot feel polished and intentional without any extra work.

Framed by graceful native Big Leaf Maples, the space sits just around the corner from the main celebration areas — close enough to gather guests quickly and easily, yet tucked away enough to feel private and unhurried. The light here has a soft, filtered quality that photographers consistently rave about, flattering every complexion and every moment it captures.

Whether you are gathering the full wedding party, stealing a quiet moment with your new spouse, or corralling three generations of family for a group portrait, The Photographer’s Nook delivers a stunning natural canvas that requires nothing more than showing up and letting the beauty of Whidbey Island do the rest.

  • Maxwelton Creek Trails & Boardwalk

Couples love the Maxwelton Creek Boardwalk for first look moments, quiet portraits, and a peaceful escape during the event. For out-of-town guests, it offers an authentic, unhurried glimpse into the natural beauty that makes Whidbey Island so beloved.

Just beyond the celebration spaces, a short trail winds along the banks of Maxwelton Creek — one of only two salmon-bearing streams on all of Whidbey Island. The handcrafted boardwalk guides you through a lush forest corridor, keeping your feet dry while immersing you in the sights and sounds of the creek. Towering evergreens, native plants, and the gentle rush of moving water create a natural sanctuary that feels worlds away — yet is just a short stroll from the festivities.

Wildlife sightings along the creek are common and memorable. Deer and bald eagles are a frequent and graceful presence on the property, and great blue herons, owls, hawks, coyotes, and rabbits all live along the trail. On rare and magical occasions, Coho salmon can be spotted making their ancient journey upstream — a once-in-a-lifetime sight that few wedding venues in the world could ever offer.
